Im 22 living in New Haven. I can wait to graduate so I can get the heck out of here...Im not a city girl....I currently have 2 cats, 3 ferrets, and a rat. I love each and every one of them but Im getting tired of constantly cleaning them and feeding them. Sure thats a part of having pets and I dont regret it but I work at this kick-ass pet store in wallingford with a fairly large reptile section and it just dawned on me one day, I should have a snake! They only eat once a week at the most and they dont poo half as much as any other pet.
Now currently I have no more room for more pets. I have to at least wait until my rat passes on to make room for a new tank. But still the question lies in what can I fit in a 20 gallon tank (thats about as much room as I have). I thought about various colubrids but in all their beauty, they are simply too active for what I want.
Then I discovered dwarf boa constrictors. Im almost positive that I want a nicaraguan boa, but there is also the hog island boa that caught my eye. Problem is, I cant find much information anywhere on these guys since they are a subspecies of the red tail. From what Ive gathered though, males only get 3 - 4 feet.
Is there any other information that anyone can give me to help me make my decision? Temperment, care thats different from a regular red tail? Anything would be greatly appreciated!!!
